Project Overview
Walk of the Dandelion is a heartwarming community engagement project that spreads joy and positivity whilst fostering connections among people of all ages. Daniel, the 8ft puppet, resembles an ethereal, ancient man and symbolises a survivor who has found resilience and strength through a connection with the earth and the symbolism of the dandelion, which will grow despite neglect and harsh treatment. In this outdoor promenade show, Daniel walks with audiences, sharing moments of delight, contemplation and fun. Daniel’s community greeter helps him gift dandelions to passersby, each with an uplifting message tied on. Audiences receive these gifts and are inspired to share the dandelions with others far and wide. This project aims to give audiences a tangible, gentle and personal experience while allowing for special moments in outdoor spaces.
Community engagement
In the accompanying day-long, open community craft workshop led by our Community Greeter, Anna, participants are guided to make their own woollen dandelions and share their own positive reflections. The dandelion symbol promotes creativity and discussions about resilience, survival, well-being, nature, ecology, and sustainability.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about the project, please get in touch with us. We cannot wait to hear from you.
